WELCOME

Welcome to the ESPACOMP meeting website! The 18th ESPACOMP Annual Meeting was held in Lausanne from November 21-22, 2014.

Prior to the ESPACOMP scientific meeting, a pre-conference educational day was organized on Thursday November 20.

This year, the Best Poster Award has been attributed to Ms. Monique van de Ven with her poster 'D-04 THE ROLE OF AUTOMATIC PROCESSES IN MEDICATION ADHERENCE OF ADOLESCENTS WITH ASTHMA (poster prize winner)'.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATION

  • Oral presentations

In the detailed program all the sessions' details are provided, as well as the time frame foreseen for oral presentations of selected abstracts (program will be updated upon confirmation of the speakers). 

Oral communications are strictly limited to 10 minutes duration, and 5 additional minutes for questions. This will be enforced by session chairs. If you are interrupted, please be understanding of the requirement to keep to time. 


Please ensure that your oral communication begins with an introduction that enables your audience to appreciate the context and the rationale of the study, and ends with a summary/conclusion that emphasizes the key points. Remain focused upon the experimental design and data. Clarity in your presentation will ensure its quality. 

Presentations should be uploaded to the computer in the conference room via a USB stick at least four hours before your allocated session. After the conference, all submitted files will be deleted from all storage media.


ONLY MS-PowerPoint (*.ppt and *.pptx) presentations are accepted. Make sure that you upload ALL files required to run your presentation, particularly if you are using small video clips; please remember to embed fonts as well.

 

  • Poster presentations

Posters are to be set up on Friday morning (08:15 - 09:15) November 21 at the foreseen poster board (they will be marked with your poster number e.g. "A-01") and must be kept on place until the end of the conference (or at least until 11 am on Saturday morning November 22). 


The poster boards will be set up vertically (portrait) and measure 180cm (70 inches)  x 120 cm (47 inches). Posters should be easily readable at about 2 m (80 inches). Push pins for posting to the boards will be provided. 


The formal poster session will be held on Friday November 21 from 12:45 until 14:00. Poster presenters are asked to stand by their poster during the poster session. A jury will pay a 5-minute visit to a number of preselected posters; authors will be asked to present their poster and to answer questions. 


All posters will be available for review by conference attendees on Friday and Saturday, November 21-22, 2014. All conference breaks will be hosted in the poster room.
Please note that accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings. 

REGISTRATION

The registration fees of this year's meeting are as follows (only one option can be selected):

 

* Registration fees include conference booklet, welcome drink on Thursday evening, coffee breaks and lunches at the venue during the meeting, and an authentic Swiss dinner on Friday evening.
* Note for students: a copy of your student identification card is required for registration.

 

Registration and activity fees must be paid for by credit card during the registration process. Payment for hotels will be taken upon check-in on arrival day.

 

Mind that selections for neither poster nor oral presentations exempt attendees from the registration fee.

The scientific meeting will be held at Hotel Alpha-Palmiers, Rue du Petit Chêne 34, Lausanne.  The hotel is just 2 minutes walk north from the railway station.

Alpha-Palmiers is a pleasant conference venue. Its location is particularly convenient for downtown Lausanne, and is very close to the railway station and the metro M2 which will take you down to the lake or uptown.  A Lausanne public transportation card will be provided for free to all hotel guests staying in Lausanne.

                    

Lausanne

Lausanne is the fourth-largest city in Switzerland.  It is located at the Lake of Geneva, 65 km East of Geneva. The city is recognized as the Olympic Capital and houses the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  

Lausanne is a sustainable city and a place of training and culture.  Unsurprisingly Lausanne is a very popular tourist destination, due to its lakeside location and close proximity to the impressive Alps. The city is home to many international companies and offers excellent quality of life and a vibrant economy. SWISS DINNER ON FRIDAY EVENING 

All participants of the ESPACOMP scientific meeting are invited to an authentic Swiss dinner on Friday evening. You will have the opportunity to try traditional Swiss Raclette, but for those who do not like cheese another dish will be available.


Dinner meeting point: coaches will pick up conference delegates at 19:00 in front of the Hotel Continental near the railway station, which is a 2 minute walk from the conference venue.

If the weather is dry, we will organize a hiking group for participants who would like to walk through the woods to the restaurant; please be aware that the walk is uphill and please bring along sport shoes. Further information will be provided during the meeting.

TRANSPORT

From Geneva International Airport, the best way to travel to Lausanne is via public transport.  The train is especially convenient as the railway station is underneath the airport. Direct trains run to Lausanne twice or three times an hour and take about 45 minutes.

We recommend travelling to the meeting via public transport as the venue is located close to the railway station and all delegates will receive a free city transportation card when arriving at each hotel. The transportation card is valid for the entire duration of your stay in the hotel.
